Cadillac is preparing an all-electric mid-size SUV for launch in China. According to AutoHome quoting patent data from China’s Ministry of Industry database, it will be called Optiq and will go on sale before the end of the year.
Stylistically, the SUV remotely resembles the marque’s firstborn EV, the Lyriq (see video). It has a smaller grille, though, as well as a bulkier front bumper and headlights that look like their counterparts on ICE Cadillacs. As for the rear end, it resembles another recent local release – the GT4 crossover hatchback.
A peek inside the spec sheet reveals that the model is 4,822 mm long, 1,912 mm wide and 1,642 mm tall with 2,954 mm of wheelbase. As such, it is smaller than the Lyriq and likely more affordable.
There are two powertrain options on the list – 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 245 PS (242 hp / 180 kW). It is unclear whether there will be a dual-motor version or just two single-motor ones. Cadillac also hasn’t properly announced the Optiq yet, so there is no way of telling whether it will ever become available outside of China.
