General Motors applies for three new trademarks

The U.S. Patent Office has received applications for three trademarks from General Motors: Symboliq, Optiq, and Celestiq. All three most likely refer to future Cadillac EVs.

More specifically, the Cadillac Celestiq has already been announced: it is a full-size sedan based on the GM platform and Ultium battery tech. At $200,000 and above, the model is the most expensive on the lineup.

While not officially confirmed, most industry observers believe that Symboliq and Optiq also denote future Cadillac models. When the company premiered its first EV – the Lyriq – it specifically mentioned that it aimed for consistency in the naming of its battery-powered vehicles. Therefore, the “iq” suffix of the Symboliq and Optiq should be a clear enough hint that both are Cadillac trademarks.
