Cadillac Celestiq goes sold out for 18 months

Speaking in a media interview, Cadillac Celestiq Chief Project Engineer Tony Roma revealed that the all-electric luxury flagship was on an 18-month backorder, despite the $300,000 starting price.

He also pointed out that the company received way more orders that it could process in the next year and a half: no one had seriously expected the model to become so popular.

Roma declined comment regarding any specific reservation quantities, but said that Cadillac was still committed to its normal production schedule of two Celestiq units per day at the most. Each car takes plenty of manual work to complete, further complicated by the extensive customization opportunities buyers can opt for, so making more than a pair a day would be unfeasible.
