Cadillac’s flagship EV goes on pre-sale, costs $40k more than expected

Cadillac has officially informed the buyers of its all-electric luxury liftback called the Celestiq that they can now proceed with customizing their vehicles and finalizing the order.

At the same time, company CMO Melissa Grady Dias has revealed the final base price – around $340,000 in U.S. dollars. When the luxury-laden, hand-assembled car was introduced in October 2022, the company tentatively promised to try to keep it close to $300,000.

The new price quoted still doesn’t include any delivery fees, taxes, options and dealership premiums. The automaker said it would make an effort to ensure no two Celestiq models in the world look completely the same: each example will be extensively individualized with the owner’s wishes in mind and multiple talks with the design team. As a result, the final price will be much higher still for most buyers. According to Melissa Grady Dias, dealerships will have the last word in this situation, as they have to keep themselves profitable.
