Just a few days ago, we reported that the 2022 Cadillac XT4, XT5 and XT6 would ship without their parking sensors due to the semiconductor shortage wreaking havoc in the industry. It has now become clear that the CT4 and CT5 sedans are set to follow down the same road.
The difference is that these two models will keep their parking assist functions, but lose the Super Cruise feature that requires numerous microchips to be functional. Apparently, the supply issues Cadillac was experiencing were worse than we imagined, because the company has given no promise of replacement or compensation so far.
In September this year, Cadillac stripped the Super Cruise suite from the Escalade SUV line citing the same reasons. The technology bridges the gap between cruise control and autopilot by enabling the driver to take their eyes off the road every now and then. It also assists with towing.
