Cadillac CT6 will either go electric or die trying

According to Cadillac CEO Steve Carlyle, there is only one possible way for the CT6 to stay in the lineup, and that is by becoming a pure EV.

In 2018, General Motors announced its intention to turn its Detroit-Hamtramck factory into the first EV-only manufacturing facility for both passenger cars, utility vehicles and commercial vehicles.

The Cadillac CT6 and the Chevrolet Impala were the last two ICE models to have remained on the assembly lines until recently. Now, GM is upgrading its facilities to launch mass production of the new Cruise Origin (self-driving shuttle bus) and GMC Hummer EV (pickup truck).

As for the CT6, the outlook is pretty grim for that one, since it began losing popularity a mere year after the launch. As such, the company believes going all-electric might be the only way to preserve it and make it sell.

In other news, Cadillac has recently announced two brand-new models: the SUV called Lyriq and the flagship sedan/saloon Celestiq. The latter may actually replace the CT6 for good.
