Cadillac CTS-V wields 1,000 HP to leave a Camaro ZL1 far, far behind

Hennessey Performance has recently succeeded in taking the Cadillac CTS-V past the 1,000-hp (745-kW) mark, and now, it wants us to see what it can do in a drag race against a stock Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. Hit Play!

The four-door ride received the full HPE1000 treatment, including a high-flow supercharger, forged engine and transmission components, and countless other performance-oriented parts. In the end, its output rose past one thousand horsepower, and the torque went up to 1,310 Nm (966 lb-ft). The top speed remained fixed at 322 km/h (200 miles per hour), but the sprint time from zero to 97 km/h (0-60 mph) dropped by a whole second down to 2.7 s.

The sporty Camaro ZL1 made do without any upgrades this time around. Like its rival, it approached the start line with a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood, but with only 650 hp (485 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) hitting the crank. It can conclude the standard sprint in 3.5 seconds and hits its acceleration ceiling at 325 km/h (202 mph).

The Camaro lost the race quite spectacularly, but Hennessey says it is working on a power-up for it, too. Once finished, the kit would endow it with 1,000 hp (745 kW), 1,197 Nm (883 lb-ft) of torque, 2.1s sprint time and 350 km/h (217 mph) max speed.
