Burning Man Festival announces a sale of some of the world’s most bizarre cars

In an attempt to combat financial difficulties, the organizing committee of the Burning Man Festival in Nevada has put nearly two hundred art cars up for sale, including some particularly weird-looking ones.

The most famous example on the block is a 1973 Cadillac Sedan DeVille that David Best turned into a ‘rocket car’ around two decades ago (watch the video for a reminder). It is set to go for $30,000 – $50,000 USD, although bidding has only reached $12,000 so far.

Then there is a 2004 Honda Civic turned into a post-apocalyptic giant cockroach on wheels, as well as a forged Fossil Scooter running on electric power. The former has already attracted $20,000 and the latter $40,000.

Burning Man tracks its history all the way back to 1986, but has been canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-related restrictions. The organizers believe that they will still be able to hold it next month.
