AddArmor turns a Cadillac Escalade into a mobile fortress

Have you ever heard of the U.S.-based armored car builder AddArmor? Just a few days ago, it came out with this custom Cadillac Escalade upgraded with the Executive Protection Package.

Among other things, the package includes ballistic glass windows that are 50 mm (2 inches) thick and can even withstand rifle fire, let alone stray pistol bullets. It also comes with a complex kind of car body armor that consists of carbon fiber and composite materials. The manufacturer claims the armor is ten times as good as ballistic steel while being more than twice as light.

Further upgrades include run-flat (i.e., solid) tires, improved suspension and brakes, a landmine scanner, a global 911 radio station that tries to get the signal through even when it’s being jammed, and – perhaps most impressively – gun ports that can be used to fight back in a pinch.

Despite all the heavy cladding, the luxury SUV manages to retain and even somewhat improve its level of comfort. The interior equipment now includes all-around view cameras, a Wi-Fi hotspot, DirecTV, Apple TV, HBO, a Sony hi-fi audio system, and LED lighting. The company even raised the roof  of the car by 4.5 inches (110 mm) and draped in with Alcantara.

A Cadillac Escalade Executive Protection Package by AddArmor will set you back U.S. $350,000.
