The LWB variant of the fifth-gen Escalade luxury SUV will be exhibited at the New York International Auto Show 2020 starting on April 10, but media will get a peek two days ahead of the opening.
In the meantime, we can learn something new about the updated Escalade range. At 5,382 millimeters (17.66 feet) long, the standard Escalade is 238 mm (9.3 inches) longer than its predecessor. In contrast, the ESV version is only 69 mm (2.7 inches) longer than the previous generation (5,766 mm / 18.92 ft.). On a more important note, it gains 105 mm (4 inches) of wheelbase, which should translate into better overall stability and handling. The wheelbase is also 336 mm (1.1 feet) larger than in the SWB version, meaning more legroom for all passengers.
Other than the above points, the ESV has nothing special to show that its shorter counterpart doesn’t have. It features the same V8 6.2 and 3.0 TDI engines, 10-speed auto transmission, per-wheel rear suspension, a 38-inch display inside, and a 36-channel speaker set.
