The Cadillac V division is nearly as old as the Escalade model itself. The SUV came out in 1999, and the first V car – the CTS-V – was launched in 2004. For the past 17 years, the Escalade and the V never came together, but it looks like the situation might finally change.
The latest bunch of spy photos shows an unusually styled Escalade test car that appears to be a V version. Compared side-by-side with the standard SUV shown in the attached video, there are a few differences that you can see even under all that disguise. Note particularly the lower front fascia that now hangs even closer to the ground and looks more aggressive than ever. Moving on to the rear, note the number of exhaust pipes. In other words, this ain’t no simple Escalade.
Rumor has it the V will ship with a 6.2-liter turbocharged V8 under the hood borrowed from the CT5-V Blackwing. If true, this would mean around 668 PS (659 hp / 491 kW) hitting the wheels.
The premiere is expected to take place in late 2022.
