30-inch rims and no ride height at all: do you approve of this Cadillac Escalade?

The lowrider subculture traces its roots back to the 1940s-era Los Angeles, where “low and slow” bore cultural and political undertones. Rewind to nowadays, and everyone is slamming all manner of cars – even SUVs – just to stand out from the crowd. Such is the case of this Cadillac Escalade, apparently.

Jake McKiddie paid around $108,000 for his luxury SUV and was apparently dissatisfied with its puny stock wheels. He bought humongous 30-inch MTW rollers to put in their place, which of course necessitated adjustments to the wheel wells and the entire chassis. In the end, the wheel tubs now sit right next to the OEM V8 inside its bay, packed tightly next to the rest of the internals. The whole project took slightly more than two months to carry out, which sounds like not much time at all considering all the suspension work involved.

McKiddie is apparently very happy with the outcome, but we know all too well that there are many haters of this kind of tuning. Do you think it was a waste of resources to bag this Escalade, or does it look like a fashion statement to you? Share your opinion!
