Cadillac has officially unveiled the Escalade IQ, its new flagship SUV running on battery power. The vehicle is 5,697 mm (222.5 inches) long, has 750 under the hood and will go on sale next summer priced from $130,000.
The overall design nods back to the gas-powered Escalade, but the IQ body boasts 15% lower drag. An active aero kit, a flat undercarriage and 24-inch alloy wheels designed to minimize air turbulence all contribute to this result.
The manufacturer also highlights a new driver’s door design – it swings open automatically as soon as it detects the owner approaching. Inside, the dominant feature is a multi-display cluster summing up to whopping 55 inches of diagonal size. The car has a three-row layout with optional VIP seats in the middle row.
Powering the Cadillac Escalade IQ is a dual-motor powertrain rated at 760 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) in peak performance mode. When running normally, it doesn’t exceed 689 PS (680 hp / 507 kW). Sprinting from 0 to 97 km/h (60 mph) takes less than five seconds.
