Elvis Presley’s Cadillac Fleetwood is up on auction

A 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that officially belonged to famous singer Elvis Presley is on sale in the UK right now.

The seller claims he has papers confirming that Presley owned the car, adding that it was the only vehicle the singer registered under his name. It has less than 2,800 km (1,740 miles) on the odometer and has so far been bid to €11,000.

It is reported that the singer bought the car new on September 26, 1974, and presented it to his physician, George Nichopoulos, after three years of use. The doctor held onto it until 1985, when he sold it to its current owner. He sold it once in 1990, but bought back soon afterwards. The car currently resides in Sweden.

According to the seller, no other car ever alleged to have been driven by Presley had documents confirming its authenticity as irrefutably as this one does.

The reason for a rather slow auction start could be found in the rather battered state of the vehicle: the interior shows considerable wear, the bodywork is dented in places, and the 8.2-liter V8 under the hood does not start. We are told that the reason is that no one had attempted to start it in decades; a proper round of maintenance should see it in working order again.
