Covid-2019 has disrupted the plans Cadillac had for unveiling its all-electric SUV, the Lyriq. Originally scheduled for reveal at the NIYAS 2020, the manufacturer withdrew from the tradeshow to avoid losses.
The show itself remains on schedule, but whether it will take place or not is unclear at this time. The organizing party claims it does everything in its power to avoid cancellation, but the odds are high that it will eventually be closed down just like the GIMS 2020 and the Auto Beijing before it. Foreseeing this turn of events, some automakers prefer to withdraw early and get their money back while they still can.
Cadillac did not name a new premiere date for the Lyriq, only saying that it was ‘looking for the optimal and, most importantly, safe’ presentation format.
The Lyriq comes based on a dedicated, scalable EV platform and takes advantage of an innovative battery design called Ultium, which gives it up to 644 kilometers (400 miles) of range.
