Cadillac will soon launch its all-electric Lyriq SUV in China, giving it a new name for that market alone and bumping up the prices a bit to compensate for all the added premium features.
According to GM Authority, the off-roader will be named Ruige in China. It will ship with a choice between a single electric motor rated at 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque and dual motors mounted one per axle for a total of 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW) and 710 Nm (524 lb-ft).
A 100-kWh traction battery will enable the car to cover up to 650 kilometers (404 miles) according to the current measurement standard adopted in China. The specs published thus far suggest that it will be nearly identical to its U.S. counterpart. Prices will start from 439,700 Yuan, or $65,400 USD, a slight premium over the domestic sticker of $62,990.
To compensate for the price difference, the Cadillac Ruige will come with a lifetime warranty covering its engine as well as some other components. All buyers will be getting 36 months of free charging at street terminals with a monthly charging limit at 1,200 km (745 miles) worth of electricity. Finally, all customers will be offered home chargers for free, with the option to turn down the proposal and get another 8,000 km (4,971 miles) of free charging instead. As if the above weren’t enough, the China-exclusive deal comes with 50 free gigabytes of Internet for the infotainment complex on board.
AutoHome.cn adds that the base trim level lists 20-inch wheels, a three-zone HVAC, a system for fine air purification and Nappa-wrapped, 12-way power-adjustable seats under standard features.
Pre-orders in China have been running since mid-November 2021, with the manufacturer occasionally reporting around 1,000 order registrations per day. The sales will start in July. A factory in Shanghai will handle the production.
