Reports: Cadillac Lyriq owners asked to keep mouth shut about issues

According to Detroit Free Press, General Motors isn’t too happy with the prospect of Cadillac Lyriq buyers complaining about the car, so they are offered a considerable discount in return for signing a special NDA.

The document allegedly prohibits owners from sharing their experience of owning and driving the electric car with anyone but the official representatives of the manufacturer. This includes any breakdowns, defects and design flaws, whether factual or perceived.

In return for their tight-lipped loyalty, buyers get a $5,500 purchase discount on the car, which starts from $62,990 in the United States.

Cadillac has already confirmed the existence of such an agreement, but pointed out that very few customers are ever offered one – no more than 20, in fact. Furthermore, the spokesperson noted that the company pursued pragmatic tasks when committing to this decision, pledging to carefully collect and analyze all the feedback to improve the cars and the service.

According to GM, the opinions of people buying the company’s very first battery SUV are vital for it to evolve into a full-fledged electric car manufacturer by the beginning of the next decade.

Finally, Cadillac reps pointed out that they found real feedback from owners a much more efficient means of gathering usage info and statistics than processing dealership reports.
