Cadillac has officially announced a paid software tweak for the all-electric Lyriq SUV that can make it go faster. It costs $1,200 and is delivered over the air – no service required.
The upgrade can be applied to the dual-motor version of the SUV. It normally makes 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 610 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque, which lets it sprint 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 4.7 seconds. Installing the Velocity Package boosts the torque by a further 100 Nm (74 lb-ft), letting the electric soft-roader reach the same speed in 4.4 seconds.
The Lyriq lineup also contains a single-motor version with 345 PS (340 hp / 254 kW) and 441 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal. There are no similar upgrades available for it at the moment.
