Caterham will assemble a Seven 170 roadster on the British Airways Tower

UK-based automaker Caterham has found an interesting way to attract attention to the launch of its lightest sports car ever, the Seven 170. On September 30, the company will turn the sky deck of the British Airways Tower in Brighton into a show platform.

Working at an altitude of 137 meters (450 feet), engineers will assemble a roadster within six hours, a small fraction of the 100 hours typically required for the job under normal condition.

It remains unannounced how many specialists will be involved in the show or how they expect to speed up the process, but anyone willing to attend the show may book a ticket to the platform at the usual rate (£16.5 for adults). Keep in mind that your visit will be limited to 30 minutes.

Caterham CEO Graham MacDonald pointed out that his company wanted to present the new car to the public in as memorable of a way as possible.

The Caterham Seven 170 debuted a few years ago as a classical entry-level sports car powered by a tiny 660cc turbocharged engine linked to a five-speed manual transmission for 84 PS (83 hp / 62 kW) and 116 Nm (86 lb-ft) of torque. In its part-carbon R Pack version, it weighs only 440 kilograms (970 pounds). Buyers willing to save a few grand are invited to buy a kit car in a crate and assemble it themselves.
