A new Caterham Seven has arrived with the version number 340. Coming to replace the old Seven 275 (see video), the new version benefits from a stronger engine and will soon go on sale in Europe and Japan priced from €45,700.
The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood sends 173 PS (171 hp / 127 kW) and 174 Nm (128 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. To put things into perspective, the Seven 275 had a 1.6-liter four-pot rated at only 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW). All acceleration-related numbers remain to be revealed, but you can look forward to a sub-5-second launch time.
Buyers of the Seven 340 may opt for one of the two packages called S and R. The S prioritizes comfortable urban driving, while the R is for the track day enthusiasts, coming with stiffer suspension, an LSD, a lightweight windshield, four-point safety harnesses and carbon-fiber dashboard trim.
