Caterham takes wraps off its first battery sports car

Caterham has come to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with Project V, a RWD all-electric sports car based on the original Lotus Seven. The market launch is scheduled for late 2025.

The car relies on a single electric motor driving its rear wheels with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW). It links to a lithium-ion battery rated at 55 kWh. The projected range per charge is 400 km, or 248 miles.

With a curb weight of 1,190 kilograms (2,623 pounds), the Project V is largely composed of aluminum compounds and carbon fiber. Per Caterham, it can sprint 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in under 4.5 seconds and max out at 230 km/h (143 mph).

The default seat layout is 2+1, but you can ask for 2+2 if you need an extra front seat. The dashboard has two digital gauges. The center console hosts a number of buttons and switches and a modest-sized multimedia display at the top.
