The Changan C385 is an innovative sedan that customers in China will be able to order in three main flavors: hybrid, electric and fuel cell based. All three come equipped with advanced driving assistance systems and offer between 700 and 1,200 km (435 and 745 miles) of range.
The C385 is 4,820 mm (188.3 inches) long, 1,890 mm (73.8 inches) wide and 1,480 mm (57.8 inches) tall with 2.9 meters (113.3 inches) of wheelbase. Its drag ratio is very low at just 0.23, and the suspension is independent on both axles. The EV version relies on a single rear-mounted motor to propel it with 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW).
Changan notes that the platform supports dual-motor configurations by design, but there will be no such option for the time being. The standard sprint will be a matter of 5.9 seconds, and the CLTC-rated driving range will amount to 700 km (435 miles). The same range is cited for the fuel cell variant of the car.
As for the hybrid, it combines a four-cylinder IC engine with an electric motor to reduce fuel consumption to 4.5 liters per 100 km (52 MPG). The manufacturer claims it offers up to 200 km (124 miles) of all-electric range. The remaining parameters are still unknown.
Inside, the Changan C385 features a squared-off steering wheel and a couple of dash displays. The infotainment system screen measures 14.6 inches across, and the car makes use of as many as 27 sensors to enable Level 4 driving autonomy. The software on board supports OTA updates.
