Changan has brought a mid-size crossover SUV named the S7 to the Shanghai Auto Show this year. The car has a striking exterior and a large infotainment display, as well as a fully electric powertrain. A range-extender hybrid version will become available later.
There are a number of new design features, such as unusual taillights with Y-shaped light patterns and original c-pillars. There is also a spoiler at the rear end coming with its own brake light.
Inside, a heads-up display compensates for the lack of any kind of full-size dashboard, and hardware buttons and switches are virtually non-existent.
The all-electric Changan Shenlan S7 relies on a single e-motor to propel it with 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. Its hybrid counterpart will use a 1.5-liter petrol engine to extend driving range, while its e-motor output will be dialed down slightly to 238 PS (235 hp / 175 kW).
