Changan has posted select specifications of its upcoming business sedan, the electric Qiyuan A07. The car, which we have already seen on photos before, will offer 710 km (441 miles) of driving range per charge, and those who would still like more will be offered a range-extender hybrid version instead.
The novelty is 4,905 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,480 mm tall with 2.9 meters between the axles. In its hybrid form, it receives a single motor with 218 PS (215 hp / 160 kW) and a naturally aspirated petrol engine with 1.5 liters of displacement. The engine will act solely as a power generator.
Opting for the all-electric variant will net you the same e-motor without the engine, but paying extra will upgrade the motor to 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW). For the battery, the choice is between 58 and 80 kWh. The smaller pack yields no more than 515 km (320 miles) of CLTC-rated range.
From the design standpoint, the newcomer strikes a smooth and laconic figure with narrow-slit headlights and flush handles. Wheels max out at 19 inches of diameter, and the interior accommodates a sole 15-inch display installed to the right of a D-shaped wheel. There is no instrument cluster by design, but a HUD partially makes up for it.
The EV will be Changan’s first model released under the ‘eco-friendly’ Qiyuan sub-brand. A sedan and a liftback are set to join the lineup later, the former as a rebadged and restyled Changan Uni-V and the latter essentially a hybrid Lamore. The company hopes to expand the Qiyuan portfolio to five production cars by 2025.
