Changan CS85 photos revealed ahead of premiere

Chinese car manufacturing company Changan has released several ad photos of its upcoming CS85 coupe-SUV, which should premiere before the end of the year.

The crossover vehicle uses the base of the Changan CS75 and is 4,720 mm (15.5 ft.) long, 1,845 mm (6.05 ft.) wide and 1,665 mm (5.45 ft.) tall with a 2,705 mm (8.87 ft.) wheelbase.

Customers will be able to choose between a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline engine with 178 hp (133 kW) and its 2.0L counterpart with 232 hp (173 kW). Both work in conjunction with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is unknown whether 4WD is available.

The prices of the Changan CS85 line also remain undisclosed, but it is worth noting that the vehicle is marketed above the CS75 (U.S. $14,500) and below the CS95 (U.S. $23,000).

Representatives of the company claim the car can rival the BMW X4. This is hardly realistic, given that a new X4 costs north of U.S. $70,000 in China. A likelier list of contenders includes Dongfeng ix5, Borgward BX6, and Bisu T7.
