Rayen R3 is a new hatchback for Iran that’s actually old and Chinese

Kerman Automotive Industries, a company based in Iran that produces FAW, Great Wall and Hyundai cars in the country, has launched a new model named Rayen R3.

Touted as an all-new development, it is nonetheless just a badge-engineered Changan CX20, a five-door hatchback made in China in 2010–2017 (see video). At 3,970 mm (155 inches) long, it is considered subcompact and remains identical to its Chinese counterpart in everything but the badges.

A 1.3-liter petrol engine pushes 90 PS (89 hp / 66 kW) to a four-speed automatic transmission. The base trim level includes AC, ESP, an infotainment system and a sunroof. Prices start from 449,000,000 Iranian rial, or around $10,600 USD.
