The Changan Deepal S09 may become the company’s next flagship when it debuts in the first half of 2025, CarNewsChina speculates quoting patent data.
The Deepal S09 is a full-size SUV with a length of 5,205 mm (203,3 inches), a width of 1,996 mm (78 in) and a height of 1,800 mm (70.3 in). The wheelbase is fairly large, too, at 3,105 mm (121.3 in). Wheels come in 20- and 21-inch sizes. The interior can fit three rows of seats, and the only layout patented so far depicts two individual seats per row.
The powertrain is based on a 1.5-liter BlueWhale engine rated at 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). In the base version of the car, it is assisted by a single electric motor driving the rear axle with 314 PS (309 hp / 230 kW). Paying a premium adds another motor to the front axle with 178 PS (176 hp / 131 kW).
The top speed is manufacturer-rated at 205 km/h (127 mph). The battery pack comes from CATL and consists of LiFePo4 cells. Its capacity is unspecified, but we expect there to be at least two options.
Price-wise, the Deepal S09 may land in the general area of 300,000 Yuan, CarNewsChina says.
