Grind Hard Plumbing, from Idaho, is working on a one-off monster bike project complete with a high-end KTM engine, hydraulic power steering and humongous wheels. The creation process is being documented on YouTube.
The bizarre off-road bike features a custom frame composed of stainless-steel pipes. Both wheel mount points are located on the left side. The wheels themselves come from a monster truck and measure 46 inches (118 centimeters) in diameter. Powering the beast is a KTM 1190 Adventure engine rated at 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW).
Aside from looking like something straight out of an apocalypse movie, the bike handles like one. Since the sheer size of the tires and their tread made normal handling via fork impossible, the guys behind the project came up with a special hydraulic arrangement. It has now been improved to provide the driver with the necessary feedback.
The latest video shows the bike in actual motion. Since the engine remains to be wired, though, it was allowed to freeroll from a slope for the purposes of the test. It ended up colliding with a pole but avoided any damage.
