A 76-year-old Delahaye 135M is up for grabs in the USA for an asking price of $389,500, nearly twice the sticker of a new Lambo Huracan. Only nine such cars were made with a body by Swiss coachbuilder Worblaufen, and this one is said to be in excellent overall condition.
French automaker Delahaye unveiled a new chassis named Type 135 back in 1935, getting multiple coachbuilders interested. The production had stalled throughout the World War II and continued in 1946. By that time, the company had improved the chassis and the inline-six engine it came with.
A total of 1,155 Delahaye 135M platforms was made after the war, but Worblaufen only built 12 bodies on their basis. Some cars were subsequently lost to history, and only 9 remain trackable.
This example is one of those nine. Its mileage is unknown, but the condition is reported to be great after a full body and cabin overhaul. Powering it is a more robust version of the standard engine, called MC. The MC mill made 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW) back in its glory days which it put to the wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
