Check out an electric supercar from the creator of the Nissan GT-R

AIM, a Japanese automaker originally founded as a sports team, has unveiled a supercar prototype named the EV Sport 01. Responsible for the design is none other than Shiro Nakamura, former Nissan Design Director who designed the GT-R, 370Z and Juke models.

The vehicle premiered at the Automobile Counsil Expo in Japan. Nakamura left Nissan six years ago and founded his own company called SN Design Platform. He saw the AIM chassis at one of the recent Goodwood Festivals and decided to put a custom bodywork on that chassis.

Thus was the EV Sport 01 born, sporting a laconic and nostalgia-inducing exterior with retro front fenders, headlights and rear end outlines. The fake radiator grille at the front has integrated LED DRLs, and the doors swing open upwards along with portions of the roof. The entire body is made of composites and is as seamless as possible in order to increase rigidity and reduce weight.

Inside, there are two Alcantara-wrapped bucket seats with a wide console separating them, a boxy steering wheel and a minimalist gauge cluster. A couple of displays is used to project the image from rear-facing cameras.

The whole car is under 4 meters (13.1 feet) long and just 1.22 meters (4 feet) tall. Twin electric motors propel it with approximately 608 PS (600 hp / 447 kW), and the battery range is estimated at 300 km (186 miles). The rest of the parameters will be revealed at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed in summer.
