There is an annual contest in West Sussex, Great Britain, in which amateurs compete against each other launching cars into the air, with a constantly present threat of ruining them and injuring themselves.
The rules are very simple: you take a short run-up, speed off a ramp and hope to land on the few jalopies scattered below to soften the impact and add style points. The spectators then rate your airtime, landing impact and overall cool factor. You can even make another try if your car somehow survived through the ordeal (more often than not, the chassis and/or the cooling tend to go on the first attempt).
Airbags are deactivated to reduce the risk of injury, because all drivers wear mandatory helmets. Buckling up properly and wearing a protective suit is also strictly required.
