Two Chinese corporations – carmaker Chery and It giant Huawei – have co-founded a new car marque named Luxeed. The first official photo is here along with some spy shots, and a full reveal is expected in Q3 2023, CarNewsChina reports.
As you probably know, Chery already has a premium sub-brand named Exeed. ‘Luxeed’ sounds like the same brand with the word ‘luxury’ mixed in. Just whether the badge will actually be put on deluxe vehicles remains to be seen. The first model shown here is called EH3. It is an all-electric sedan about as large as the Tesla Model 3.
The media in China believe that the EH3 may make its first public appearance as soon as the Chengdu Motor Show later this month. Estimates predict that it may cost around 200,000 Chinese Yuan, which is less than what the Model 3 starts from.
The first Luxeed EV will be built on a platform named E0X, which is already being used by Exeed. In its top specification, the car will get two electric motors and a CATL battery pack for 700 km (435 miles) of range or so.
Huawei will handle the on-board electronics, in particular the ADS 2.0 Assist Package. If you look closely, you will notice the LiDAR mounted below the windshield. It is already official that the semi-autonomous driving system of the EH3 will comprise 12 ultrasonic sensors, 11 cameras and 3 radars. Huawei will also provide its HarmonyOS 4 for the infotainment unit.
