Soon after news emerged about Chinese automakers being interested in localizing their car production in Italy, another report has arrived claiming Chery in particular is looking to buy a factory complex in Spain.
It is a former Nissan manufacturing site that wrapped up all production of Japanese cars three years ago. Rather than staying idle, it is currently serving the industrial needs of three small local businesses.
It’s official that the authorities of Catalonia have already sent their representatives to China to conduct negotiations with Chery. The results should be announced later.
