Meet the Lepas L8, yet another Chery brand offspring

Lepas, a newborn global automaker specializing in premium vehicles, has announced its first production car – the L8. The first SUV rolled off the assembly line in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China on April 18th.

A sub-brand controlled by Chinese automaker Chery, Lepas is an abbreviation of two words – “leap” and “passion”. It goes under the motto “Colorful life, masterful drive”. The L8 will have a full premiere at the Global Dealer Conference 2025 at the end of this month. In the meantime, we have no details on the car.

Moving forward, Lepas expects to build up a large portfolio of premium vehicles for the discerning customer interested in customization options. It will consist of both family-oriented large SUVs and light passenger cars. Cao Bin, Chief Technology Officer at Chery, said that the brand will develop in different directions based on the customers’ wishes as it expands worldwide.
