Chery’s Jetour X70 now available through pre-orders

The Chinese car manufacturer Chery owns Jettour sub-brand for quite a while, but hasn’t used it until now. The company has only recently launched production of its first-ever Jettour model – the X70 SUV – and opened pre-orders.

The company has decided to split its product lines between the two brands. Chery will continue to release sedans, while Jettour will handle MPVs and SUVs.

The Jettour X70 will be made available with five, six and seven seats. Regardless of which one you pick, the vehicle will come driven by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 147 hp (110 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb·ft) of torque. Gear switching can be manual (5 speeds) or automatic.

Interior options include an infotainment system with a large touchscreen display, a digital dashboard, and heated-up seats. Driver aids include lane control, emergency brake, and automatic parking.

A new Jettour X70 would be U.S. $11,000 and above. The car will initially be sold only in China, but things just might change if Chery decides to create a separate sub-brand for Europe.

The budding brand will soon release six more new cars, three SUVs and three MPVs.
