Chery intends to resurrect Fengyun nameplate

Chery has announced the return of its Fengyun badge, which was formerly used for a compact car also known as the Windcloud and A11 (in the gallery below). The revived Fengyun name will denote a whole lineup of electrified vehicles, starting with a sedan called A9. Car News China believes it will debut before the end of the year.

Judging by the images, the A9 will sport a distinct front end with a starry pattern in the radiator grille and slim headlights with C-shaped sections. Other discernible features include large wheels, a slanted roof, a sculpted hood, and flush door handles.

The car will run on a plug-in hybrid powertrain known as the Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM. It will use a 1.5-liter turbo engine in tandem with a DHT three-speed transmission to send 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels. The average fuel consumption will amount to 4.2 liters per 100 km (56 miles per U.S. gallon). These specs are all we have to date.

Chery plans to open a whole new dealership network in China to sell the Fengyun lineup of EVs, hoping that it will help it attain its strategic goal of producing over 10,000,000 electrified vehicles by 2025.
