Although the all-electric crossover SUV known as Chery iCar 03 has never been properly announced, it is already being made. The boxy car debuted at the Shanghai Expo this spring, and while Chery followed up with some interior shots later, it never revealed the technical specifications – until now.
According to CarNewsChina quoting the patent application to the Ministry of Industry of Industry and IT of China, the car is considered a crossover utility vehicle and has front-wheel drive by default. Its dimensions are as follows: 4,406 x 1,910 x 1,715 mm with a wheelbase of 2,715 mm. The approach and departure angles amount to 26 and 19 degrees, respectively. The curb weight is around 1,775 kilograms with 18-inch wheels and 1,800 kilos with 19-inch ones.
The base FWD version of the iCar 03 comes equipped with a Qida-badged motor rated at 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW). Qida is a part of Chery Group. The LiFePo4 battery is provided by CATL and comes rated for 500 km (310 miles), although its actual power capacity hasn’t been revealed. The top speed is capped at 150 km/h (93 mph). Later on, Chery plans to introduce a dual-motor/AWD version.
The iCar 03 is slated to arrive in showrooms in China later this year priced from 150,000 CNY or so.
