AWD Omoda C5 nabbed testing in China

As evidenced by these images spreading across Chinese social pages, Chery is working on an all-wheel-drive variant of its Omoda 5 SUV also known as the Omoda C5.

The test vehicle looks like the international spec – note the missing Chery logo on the radiator grille and large Omoda lettering on the hood. For the time being, Russia is the only country where these cars are sold under the standalone Omoda brand. The interior is also different from the Chinese spec (see video).

Aside from four driven wheels, the SUV features independent rear suspension. A badge at the rear end suggests that the engine is a 1.6-liter turbo, though, which is available exclusively in China. It is rated at 197 PS (194 hp / 144 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque and works in tandem with a seven-speed DCT.

The lack of camo wrap inside and out is a sure indicator that Chery is almost ready to begin production. The specific launch date remains unannounced.
