Chery Tiggo 9 gains a seven-seat hybrid version in China

The new Chery Tiggo 9 seven-seater is 4.8 meters long, has 2.8 meters of wheelbase and occupies the pinnacle of the Tiggo lineup. It has an understated exterior design with an impressively large radiator grille and premium cabin upholstery.

Crack open one of the doors to see contrast-colored leather, a sports steering wheel and a pair of 12.3-inch displays. Certain elements remind us of European cars from the same market segment, especially the blocky air vents and the door-mounted power seat controls.

The standard spec will utilize a 2.0-liter petrol engine rated at either 254 or 261 horsepower (187 or 192 kilowatts). However, the SUV that Chery chose to unveil at the Shanghai show was called C-DM and had a hybrid powertrain based on an IC engine and a single electric motor.

The combined power output was never revealed, but the company said the hybrid could reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. The all-electric range was estimated at 165 km (102.5 miles) and the combined petrol-electric range at 1,400 km (870 miles).

Pre-orders are already running in China.
