Chevrolet Tracker, TrailBlazer celebrate their Shanghai premiere with blacked-out windows

Two GM-branded SUVs, the Chevrolet Tracker and TrailBlazer, have made their appearance at the annual automobile show in Shanghai, China. Both cars come with their windows completely opaque and interiors hidden from the prying eyes. The manufacturer does not help much, either, revealing next to nothing about either of the two cars.

In fact, all we know for a fact right now is that both vehicles come equipped with 17-inch wheels. The rest of the specs are (more or less) blind conjecture, so proceed at your own risk.

Industry pros tend to agree that the Chevrolet TrailBlazer is based on the new VSS-S car platform. This might be true for the Tracker, too, although it might as well be based on the GEM platform instead.

Based on the data GM submitted to a Chinese car certification agency, we know that the Tracker is exactly 4,270 millimeters (14 ft.) long and 1,791 mm (5.88 ft.) wide with 2,570 mm (8.43 ft.) between the axles. The dimensions of the TrailBlazer remain undisclosed, but the car looks close in size to the Buick Encore GX.

The most basic trim version of the Tracker likely comes powered with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine rated at 115 horsepower (86 kilowatts). That said, it will probably ship with a few more capable engines to choose from. As for the transmission, a six-speed semi-automatic appears to be the primary option.

Both SUVs will start arriving at showrooms across China in the second half of 2019. The Chevrolet Tracker will eventually become available in other countries as well, while the marketing prospects of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer outside of China remain unclear.
