Video: Restoring a 60-year-old Chevy 3600 engine

A detailed and instructional video cropped up on YouTube channel Hagerty, showing the entire process of repairing and restoring the inline-six engine of a 60-year-old Chevrolet 3600 pickup truck.

The crew provides excellent coverage of the entire process, starting with dismantling and ending with the installation and start. Liberal use of the speedup/FF function reduces the length of the final video to just 10 minutes, so it is anyone’s guess how long it took to carry out the restoration in real life.

The guys begin with extensive rust removal, then proceed to repair all the worn-out components, and oil all the moving parts. In the end, they launch the engine to make sure it works (it does!).
