This Chevrolet D6500 pickup rolled off the line all the way back in 1986, but thanks to Gateway Classic Cars, a restoration shop based in Kentucky, USA, it can easily overshadow the latest Ford F-250 or Toyota Tundra. We mean it literally: just look at its sheer size!
The huge truck was allowed to retain its original 8.2-liter diesel engine and Allison AT545 auto transmission. It still rides on the original wheels and tires, although there is now a dozen bolts sticking out of every hub for no apparent reason. The cabin also remains stock, which is something we are not so sure about, given the respectable age of the vehicle.
We can hear you asking: hey, where is all the tuning? Well, first, the truck bed is brand-new and much shorter than the original one. Second, the exhaust pipes now face upwards in the Big Rig fashion. Third, the lighting all-around is LED-based, and there are orange blinkers on the roof. So yes, this is, technically, a restomod.
Besides, Gateway Classic Cars says the truck is in great condition as is and doesn’t need much more work than this. Watch the video and decide for yourself.
