Few mid-20th-century-era trucks are as popular in the U.S. restoration shops as the Chevrolet 3100. Another example has recently popped up on sale at RM Sotheby’s.
The uncredited restorer worked with a 1955 pickup. It cleaned the body of rust and mold and gave it a fresh Orange Metallic paint. Contrary to the current fashion trends, none of the original chrome strips and décor was removed; instead, the tuner even installed a retro-style wheel set with a chrome finish.
Expectedly enough, the restomod boasts plenty of up-to-date tech, including LED headlights, air suspension, and a purpose-built exhaust system. The latter is not just a whim, because the quad-carburetor V8 under the hood is also new. Unfortunately, we do not know much about it, aside from the fact that the carburetors come from Edelbrock.
A complete interior overhaul rounds off the project. The whole cabin now benefits from fine brown and light beige leather and features a vintage Dolphin instrument panel, an elegant four-spoke wheel, and a redesigned center console. The list goes on to include even such niceties as power windows and heated cup holders.
