It is only rarely that we get to report on something as completely unhinged as this Learjet airplane converted into a stretch limo with street driving permission in the USA.
Oregon-based tuner shop Exotic Coach handled the extensive project. The work began in 2006 and took over 40,000 hours to complete. In the process, the plane body was strengthened with a stainless-steel frame, and a Chevrolet Vortec V8 was put in at the tail end. The 8.1-liter naturally aspirated engine sends up to 406 hp (302 kW) of power to the rear axle (no AWD in a 13m / 42ft. long road-running plane, sorry).
The sheer dimensions of the vehicle dwarf even its own 28-inch Diablo rollers wrapped in Kumho 325/25 tires and fitted with a hydraulic braking system.
It is still the cabin that warrants the most attention, though. The limo can take up to 18 passengers, and the entire inner space comes wrapped in exquisite red and black leather. A 42-inch plasma TV set provides entertainment alongside a 17,000-watt speaker array.
Mecum Auctions will attempt to find a buyer for the unique private jet limo at an auction coming up in Indianapolis in May 2020. The price remains unannounced.
