Chevrolet upgrades Bolt, unveils Bolt SUV

General Motors has shared a video featuring two of its latest electric cars – a refreshed Bolt and a new SUV based on the same chassis. The cars will be produced side-by-side, although earlier rumors had claimed the SUV was coming to replace the hatchback.

No tech specs exist this early on, but the main thing to realize is that the U.S. customers are basically getting the China-made Buick Velite 7 in a rebadged form. The latter sells on the domestic market with a single 178hp (133kW) electric motors and up to 500 kilometers of range according to the outdated NEDC measurement standard. It is likely that Chevrolet upgrades both the engine and the battery for the United States, but not guaranteed.

The two Bolts will hit the assembly lines in summer 2021.
