Check out a 68-year-old Chevy 3100 truck restored by students

Barrett-Jackson will soon attempt to sell this vintage Chevrolet 3100 pickup brought back to life by four students supervised by Kustom Built Cars. The restomod might go for U.S. $50,000 or thereabouts.

It is reported that the students themselves picked this model year 1953 truck for restoration because they liked it. The car received a Green Desert Sage wrap on the outside and a brown leather makeover in the cabin. Modern additions included a high-end audio system, a HVAC, a steering wheel with a wooden rim and aluminum spokes, and a digital dashboard.

The rest of the tech is no less impressive. There is an independent front suspension borrowed from an older Mustang, as well as Camaro rear suspension. The wheels and the front grille look authentic, but they are actually replacement parts that happed to suit the old-timer perfectly.

Rounding off the list is an LS3 V8 under the hood, taken from a Chevy Camaro SS. We don’t have any figures to throw at you, but the stock engine produces no less than 450 hp (336 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque, so rest assured this particular restomod is no slouch.
