HSV decides on its future strategy with the new Colorado SportsCat pickup

Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), automotive company and partner of General Motors, said it would make an effort to revive consumer interest in the Chevrolet cars in Australia and New Zealand. The announcement coincided with the presentation of the new HSV Colorado SportsCat which marked a new milestone in the company’s history.

A brief glance is basically sufficient to conclude that the Thailand-manufactured compact pickup is none other than a redesigned version of Chevrolet Colorado. The car is built on the platform used by Colorado CrewCab Z71 and should be available in two high-end versions, SportsCat and SportsCat+.

The local legislation in Australia and New Zealand sets hard engine power limits, a fact many people would find unfortunate. What this means for the SportsCats is that both models only get 2.8-liter, four-cylinder Duramax diesel motors capable of 200 horsepower.

Aside from the above, HSV Colorado SportsCat comes with reinforced suspension and shock absorbers, as well as stylish exclusive 18” alloy wheels clad in Cooper Zeon LTZ Pro Sports All-Terrain (285/60) tires. As a result, its road clearance is now 251 millimeters (9.8”) high.

HSV Colorado SportsCat is available in showrooms across both countries for a minimal price equivalent to U.S. $45,400. Add another $3,800 if you want the “fully loaded” version.
