Restomod mania rages on as Barcroft Cars posted a new video about a man who had built a truck with 1936 Chevy underpinnings and paid $500,000 for it.
In the short clip, the man admits he had been dreaming about such a car for two decades and spent another two years bringing his dream to life. The project is so insane that we are stumped as to where to begin, though. Suffice it to say that headlight housings and the tailgate are the only surviving original parts – the body, the cabin and the 760-PS Cummins diesel under the hood are all new.
On the outside, the car wears a pleasant combination of green and white with dark walnut bed lining. As elegant the image is shaping up to be, brutal semi wheels sized 24” clash with that definition too much. The rear axle even has dually rims installed, and the slammed suspension hints that it might not be a daily driver at all. On the other hand, a chrome finish on the rims helps them look coherent with the rest of the build.
Things get even more interesting under the hood, where the abovementioned Cummins V8 churns out insane 760 PS (750 hp / 559 kW) working on diesel fuel. Such a monster would not go amiss in a heavy-duty full-size truck, let alone a restomod six meters (20 ft.) long and less than 1.5 meters (barely over 4 ft.) tall.
The build had soaked in $500,000 USD before it could be complete, but the owner seems happy with how much attention it draws from everyone on the road.
