25,000 HP and 563 km/h: Check out the craziest pickup truck in existence

Racing driver and car aficionado Hayden Proffitt II is the owner of one of the world’s most incredible pickup trucks. Formerly known as the Super Shockwave, it runs on a Chevrolet chassis and can hit 350 miles per hour (563 km/h) in a straight line.

The cab is fabricated from glass-fiber plastic and styled to resemble that of the heavier Chevrolet trucks from the mid-20th century. Powering it are dual Westinghouse J34 jet engines originating from an American training aircraft. Their combined output is roughly estimated at 25,000 horsepower (18,300 kilowatts) and 5,830 Nm (4,300 lb-ft) of torque. You could argue that the numbers are too approximate, but good luck finding a dyno stand capable of holding a monster like this (spoiler: such a dyno doesn’t exist).

According to Proffitt II in the video, the actual speed of the car falls slightly short of the advertised value at 340 mph (547 km/h). That, and it is not street-legal, because melting the traffic behind you into puddles isn’t. Even so, it is officially recognized as the planet’s ultimate speed truck.
