Chevrolet company tested the track version of new generation of its Camaro ZL1 coupe. Tests of the model showed, that it can reach the maximum speed over 318 kilometers per hour. Thereby, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 became the fastest car in the history of the American brand.
Tests passed on the basis of testing ground in German Papenburge on a track of 12,3 km long. The sports car was "shod with" Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 factory tires and hadn't any difference from usual production model. Only special equipment for bigger safety of the driver and measuring instruments were established inside.
For two runs on the track Chevrolet Camaro reached two maximum values of speed (325 km/h and 311 km/h), the average of which (318 km / h) was adopted as a final. The test results revealed that sports car needs 3.5 seconds for acceleration to 96 km / h (60 miles per hour), and the reference distance of ¼ milli ("Quarter") coupe passes for 11.4 seconds, the output speed - 204 km / ch. Overloads reach 1,02 g. at high speed in turning movements.
